The Dean of the Faculty is responsible for all faculty hiring (tenure-track, visiting, and adjunct positions) and also oversees staff hiring within the academic division. The Dean has responsibility for faculty diversity and retention, faculty teaching loads, and faculty personnel issues including informal conflict resolution. The Dean has oversight and responsibility for orientation programs for new faculty and new Department Heads and Program Chairs, and faculty mentoring and development programs. The Dean of the Faculty assists the Provost on sabbatical and leave requests, faculty salaries, and Department Head and Program Chair appointments.
The Dean of the Faculty serves ex officio on the Diversity, Faculty Academic Policy, and Governance committees.
The Dean of the Faculty reports to the Provost.
