Lafayette College Department of Mathematics Assistant Professor of Mathematics The Department of Mathematics at Lafayette College in Easton, PA invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the rank of assistant professor beginning Fall 2023: one in an open field, and one in mathematical modeling, applied mathematics, or statistics. Applicants for both positions will be expected to contribute broadly to the department’s major offerings and to make significant contributions to the department’s teaching and scholarship missions. Although not a requirement for the applied position, a willingness to teach Introduction to Data Science is a plus. Candidates for these positions must have a Ph.D. in the mathematical sciences or be in the final stages of attaining one. Candidates must provide evidence of excellence in teaching and a strong, active research program. Successful candidates will also demonstrate a willingness and ability to contribute to the life of a vigorous mathematics program on a small, exclusively undergraduate campus, as well as the ability to contribute to Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Applied, interdisciplinary, and theoretical research are equally valued. Lafayette’s mathematics department has an outstanding record of leadership in undergraduate research, and candidates should have an interest in mentoring student projects. The normal teaching load for tenure-track faculty members is four courses for the first year, and five per year thereafter. The college provides a paid pre-tenure research leave, mentoring, and research support. To apply on MathJobs, please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, brief statements describing your teaching philosophy and research program, and three references. Please also state in the cover letter which position is being applied for. Candidates should address in their applications how their teaching, scholarship, or service will support Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion as articulated in the College’s diversity statement.
