The Lafayette College Department of Mathematical Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position in mathematics, to commence in the 2025-26 academic year.  Applicants must have a PhD in the mathematical sciences or be in the final stages of attaining one.

Applicants are expected to have an active scholarly program in mathematics, with a preference for an area of discrete mathematics that augments current faculty expertise in modeling and applied mathematics.  Possible areas of specialty may include but are not limited to discrete dynamics, coding theory, network theory, integer programming and discrete optimization. Preference will be given to applicants with experience teaching broadly at the undergraduate level. The ability to work with undergraduates individually, whether teaching independent studies, guiding thesis work, or incorporating them into research projects, is valued. Successful candidates will demonstrate willingness and ability to contribute to the life of a vigorous mathematics program on a small, exclusively undergraduate campus. The teaching load is four courses in the first year of employment, and five courses per year thereafter.

Applicants should provide a cover letter, a vita, brief statements of teaching and research interests, and arrange for three letters of reference, with at least one letter directly addressing teaching. In the cover letter, applicants should address how their teaching will support Lafayette’s commitment to diversity and inclusion articulated in the College’s diversity statement (http://www.lafayette.edu/about/diversity-statement). Applicants should submit these materials online at www.mathjobs.org. Applications received by December 1, 2024 will receive full consideration.
