The Art Department at Lafayette College seeks an established artist who works in the medium of painting for a one year visiting faculty position. We are interested in candidates with far-reaching practices and approaches that may include mural painting, non-western traditions, installation art, new technologies and community- based practices. Creative practices and/or pedagogy that centers on works and bodies of knowledge from historically underrepresented communities will be prioritized.

The teaching load for this position is three courses per semester, two at the introductory level and one class at the intermediate level. Applicants should be prepared to teach every level of painting and drawing including figurative painting. They should also be able to teach a Capstone class that includes students from all studio areas working on individual projects that culminate in an exhibition at the end of the Fall semester.

There are approximately 20 art majors per year in the art department. Many of them are double majors. Student projects are broad and often include research from a variety of sources.

The Art Department values critical discussions of race, gender, sexuality, emotional labor, and the social and cultural impact of making art in the twenty-first century.
